This rare and economically valuable plant has thrived for centuries in the naturally blessed land of Tra Vinh and is considered the “White Gold” of the region.

  1. Deeply engage with the spiritual culture and festival traditions of the Khmer people at a 700-year-old ancient pagoda: from two consecutive days of Samadhi meditation activities that calm the body and mind, to admiring the artistic Robam dances, experiencing the Romvong dance, and trying your hand at pounding rice flakes - a dish rich in Khmer traditional culture. 
  2. Experience wrapping Macapuno Coconut candy, savor products made from Macapuno Coconut, and listen to the story of bringing Macapuno Coconut reached the world
  3. Distinguish Macapuno Coconut from regular coconut, enjoy fresh Macapuno Coconut - the 'White Gold' of Tra Vinh.

TOUR PROGRAM

 DAY 1: TRA VINH MACAPUNO COCONUT MUSEUM – CHO PAGODA – MACAPUNO COCONUT GRADEN - KAN DAL PAGODA ( D )

- Morning: Upon arrival at the Tra Vinh Macapuno Coconut Museum, guests will immediately feel relaxed by the fresh air from the surrounding lush green coconut garden, the soothing music combined with the sound of wind chimes, and the unique architecture that harmoniously blends tradition and modernity, showcasing the cultural intersection of the Kinh, Khmer, and Hoa ethnicities. Places guest will visit:

  • The reception area is furnished with bamboo and rattan furniture from Tra Vinh's traditional handicraft village. Guests can relax, enjoy tea, and savor Macapuno Coconut specialty snacks.
  • Macapuno Coconut Ancestor Shrine: Venerable Thach So, who brought the first Macapuno Coconut seedlings to Vietnam. Guests will immerse themselves in a sacred space with the ritual of striking three gong beats and three continuous bell rings, resonating with profound meaning.
  • Macapuno Coconut Legend Artifact Exhibition: Explore the history of Macapuno Coconut's origins with artifacts such as the first Macapuno Coconut tree stump enshrined, the Macapuno Coconut Ancestor Statue, and many other artifacts.
  • Lau Phuoc Hue: A place to receive blessings, wisdom, and prosperity from the Macapuno Coconut Ancestor. 
  • Experience wrapping Macapuno Coconut candy or making traditional cakes by hand. ( by request)
  • Explore museum on the own way and enjoy shopping of products made from Macapuno Coconut.

-   The group travels to Cho Pagoda, an ancient Khmer pagoda associated with the legend of Vietnam's first Macapuno Coconut tree, brought back and planted by Venerable Thach So, the 4th abbot of the pagoda, in 1924. The group will visit:

  • The Legend of the First Mother Macapuno Coconut Tree at the Memorial
  • Traditional Macapuno Coconut trees over 70 years old, propagated from the original mother Macapuno Coconut tree.
  • The Coffin of Venerable Thạch Sô preserved with exquisite carvings.
  • Experience a Balinese language class (if available during your visit).

-   The group travels to the lush green space of the Macapuno Coconut Garden and experience picking Macapuno Coconuts, distinguishing between Macapuno and regular coconuts, enjoying coconut water, and preparing an attractive Macapuno Coconut drink. Guests can also participate in traditional folk games: coconut shell racing, coconut shell sandals walking, and crafting childhood toys from coconut leaves: wristwatches, glasses, and leaf trumpets, etc.

-    Lunch: The group will dine at an eco-tourism area along the Hau River, enjoying unique rustic dishes made from Macapuno Coconut, featuring the distinctive flavors of the Southwest.

-     The group travels to KanDal Pagoda, an ancient Khmer architectural masterpiece built in the 18th century. The pagoda is

distinguished by its multi-tiered, curved tile roofs, resembling the shape of the Naga serpent, a sacred symbol in Khmer culture. The space here is tranquil and serene, guiding each step into the depths of Khmer community culture and spirituality. The group will visit:

  • The unique 700-year-old Gold apple tree (Diospyros decandra) of the Southwest region, predating the pagoda's construction in 1317.
  • The 90-year-old traditional Macapuno Coconut tree, the oldest Macapuno Coconut tree in Cau Ke still standing.
  • Samadhi Meditation 'Calming the Mind' - of Khmer Theravada Buddhism in the ancient main hall, over 700 years old. Under the dedicated guidance of respected monks at Kan Dal Pagoda, the journey of discovery extends beyond architectural beauty to become a transformative spiritual experience. Guests will achieve mental, physical, and intellectual stillness by focusing on controlling, observing, and guiding the flow of breath.

Evening: The group will have dinner with rustic dishes, followed by participation in activities:

  • Campfire program and immerse yourself in the rich Khmer cultural activities: from enjoying the artistic Robam dance and experiencing the graceful, colorful Romvong dance, to trying your hand at pounding rice flakes with skilled local artisans, and savoring Macapuno Coconut sweet rice flakes, a unique local delicacy.
  • Guests will rest at Kan Dal Pagoda.

DAY 2: KAN DAL PAGODA – HUYNH KY ANCIENT HOUSE - ONG BON BA PAGODA – NGUYEN THI UT HEROINE MEMORIAL SITE (B)

 

Morning: The group wakes up early to prepare for Samadhi meditation, welcoming the new day with renewed energy from mental, physical, and intellectual stillness through observing the flow of breath, under the guidance of respected monks.

-  The group respectfully bids farewell to the respected Monks, packs their belongings, and travels to the breakfast location, followed by a visit to:

  • Huynh Ky ancient house was built in 1924 based on the design of the French architect, and constructed by artisans from Saigon, Hue, and the local area. Following that is Ong Bon Ba Pagoda, a place of worship for the person who brought the first Trieu Chau generation to migrate to the lands along the Hau River , Cau Ke. 
  • Nguyen Thi Ut (Ut Tich) Heroine Memorial Site (tours from Monday to Friday) with the legend of the “Mother with a Gun” - and her image with the famous saying: “Even with the last thread of my pants, I will fight!”
